At present the Mayer, Salovey, Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) (TM) is the only objective psychometric tool available to measure EI. The MSCEIT aligns with the EI Blueprint; the  only ability-based model  research critics have deemed as the gold standard for  teaching and scholarly discourse. (Conte,2005; Jordan, Ashkanasy & Hartel, 2003)

MEASURING YOUR EI - the MSCEIT

Studies have shown that people are poor judges of their own IQ and EI! Most individuals either over-estimate or underestimate themselves as compared to how they actually perform on an IQ or EI assessment. Asking others to rate you is also less accurate than an objective measure like the MSCEIT (TM). The MSCEIT measures your ability to perceive emotions, access ideal emotions to assist thought, understand emotions and emotional knowledge and regulate emotion to promote emotional and intellectual growth. You can complete the MSCEIT online in about 45 minutes on average. You cannot study for the MSCEIT and you should complete it in one sitting, ideally with no interruptions and no unusual stresses. Your results are confidential and you will receive a full report and consult session to help you interpret your results.
